Christian Simonian

Christian Simonian was born in Paris (14th district) in 1949, lived his childhood and adolescence in the suburbs. In college in 1961, his teacher of art revelled in his gift for drawing to such an extent that ten out of ten was no longer enough and he was unable to mark it any higher. Then one day he said to him: "You are better than me! “ This pushed the teenager, nothing will stop him now. Thank you to this professor who showed humility, humility which for Christian Simonian is the proof of the true greatness of the spirit. "The master has succeeded when the pupil is better than he" (Chinese proverb). Christian knew well that his teacher was better. But this is how we discover and push forward with a vocation! In 1965, he joined a school of automobile style in Puteaux (92) in order to become a stylist. We did not yet say designer. He created many designs of futuristic cars, coming into frequent contact with the stylists of the Renault management in Rueil Malmaison who at that time supported him. His future was assured. Back from the army he applied for a post but unfortunately the post was taken by another person. His disappointment was immense. But his training in drawing was decisive. He was not going to let this beat him. He worked in advertising and creative agencies and became responsible for communication in various industrial companies. In 1982, he resigned from his last job as an employee to become a self-employed graphic designer and illustrator, and enrolled at the Maison des Artistes. He trained himself on computer graphics and 3D during the early days of the digital revolution. He spent more than 20 years working freelance to create large illustrations, product designs, logos, posters, advertisements, brochures etc. In 2001, he stopped his activity as a freelancer and was again hired as communication manager by two of his former clients.
