The Plumerian

Photography is my favorite (only) hobby. I don't like things staged or posed...I want to photograph them "as found." This keeps me vigilant & makes me aware of subtle changes in light that alter a subject dramatically. It keeps my eyes open to the beauty in everyday life. It keeps me stopping to smell the roses, so to speak. I've realized over the years that, although I've taken some great landscape images, my best photographs are of flowers and the critters that inhabit them. From Texas bluebonnets to Hawaiian plumeria, I'm all about the flower porn! The flowers I love best are smart...they know when to bloom and when to stand down, what to get done in order to make sure pollination happens (even if that means deceiving poor bees & moths!) They are delicate and resilient all at once. Elegant and complex simultaneously. Beautiful and imperfect. AND they smell divine! We should all be so lucky.
