Hi! I'm Amanda and this is my story. I married the love of my life in 2008. Marrying him has been the best thing I've ever done in my life. He's my rock, my inspiration, and my best friend. Because I am disabled, he helps me when I need him and he's been known to give me that kick in the butt when I need it too. In 2009, I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. His name is Noah and he is the love of my life. He's doing wonderfully and is so intellegent. It's been an absolute pleasure being his mom. I've never experienced love like this. It's something so new yet so familiar. He is just so precious to me and my husband. I don't know what we'd do without him. On December 17, 2001, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. It has proven to be both difficult and easy at times. The specific type of MS that I have is RRMS which stands for Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis. I take several medications everyday that include both pills and an injection named Copaxone. Ideally, it should slow down the progression of the disease but, as anyone who takes medication knows, it all effects people differently. So, we will see in time how it does for me. Something else that I've had to battle throughout my life is my weight. In 2006, I toppled the scales at 425lbs when I went in for Gastric Bypass Surgery. Actually, the name of the surgery I had was RNY or Roux-en-Y. Today is April 19, 2008, and from the day I entered into surgery, I've lost a total of 188lbs. I've gone from barely being able to fit into a 30/32 shirt and pants to now being able to fit into between a 16-18 pants and 18-20 shirt or 1-2x t-shirt depending on the make. It feels great to be this size for what seems like the first time in my life. I've learned that to maintain a healthy diet for myself it takes getting in all the water, protein, and vitamins that I need everyday. I can finally say that I eat to live and not the other way around.
