Washington and Lafayette at Mount Vernon ポスター

This late 18th century US Presidential History print titled ‘Washington and Lafayette at Mount Vernon; features George Washington, the first US President, along with Marquis de Lafayette, a French aristocrat and military officer, at Mount Vernon. When Lafeyette visited the US in 1784, the high point of his tour was his 10-day long stay at Mount Vernon with George Washington and his family. Of the visit, the Marquis wrote to his wife, “I assure you that in retirement General Washington is even greater than he was during the Revolution.”
